Let’s look at what the science has to say. Lemon extract has been shown to reduce ACE gene expression (a biomarker for sustained weight loss) after 10 hours of exposure. It also seems quite safe to add lemon fruit or lemon essential oil to water. There are some essential oil safety tips that should be looked at prior to ingestion, however.
